Appenzeller Sennenhund Dog: Dog Breed Description

Of the four Alpine breeds, the Appenzeller Sennenhund dog is the least known and extremely rare outside of its homeland. This breed was bred in Switzerland in order to guard the herd, drive cattle, rescue people and transport goods in a team. The Appenzeller has fully retained its hereditary working qualities. Character

Wool and care

The Appenzeller dog is covered with a double coat. The outer layer is short, thick and glossy, with a soft and dense undercoat underneath. This breed sheds a lot. The Appenzeller Sennenhund dog needs to be periodically brushed with a stiff brush to remove loose and dead hairs.
