The Australian Cattle Dog is a working dog designed for grazing in the harsh natural conditions of Australia. He is hardy and silent, because he must walk for a long time after cattle and hear it well.

Character

The Australian Cattle Dog is not recommended for inexperienced dog breeders. This dog cannot be just a pet, as it was created specifically for the job of a shepherd. This breed is not suitable for families with small children due to its overdeveloped guarding and herding instincts. An independent but obedient Queensland healer, he perfectly guards homes, lots, livestock and people. However, he does not get along well with other dogs and small pets. Wool and care

The Australian Cattle Dog has a two-layer coat: a smooth and dense coat and a soft, dense undercoat. This dog’s coat is waterproof. On the legs, abdomen and neck, the hair of Australian Cattle Dog is longer than on the rest of the body. This breed sheds profusely 1-2 times a year. To remove dead hair, the dog should be brushed regularly with a stiff brush. The ears of the Queensland healer must be constantly cleaned of dirt and the claws must be trimmed. This breed is prone to retinal diseases, deafness, hip dysplasia.

Training

The Australian Cattle Dog needs early socialization and early obedience training. This dog is stubborn, independent and intelligent. The training for this breed must be rigorous but fair. Queensland healers are making great strides in a variety of canine sports.

Activity

A Australian Cattle Dog cannot live in a city apartment, he needs a job on a farm in order not to go crazy with boredom. Also, this breed requires increased physical activity.
