The Peruvian Inca Orchid, aka Peruvian Hairless Dog, is a very rare and ancient breed, developed in Peru in 750 AD. This gifted hunting dog was highly prized by the Incas. At the same time, the Indians kept bald representatives of this breed only as pets, and their brethren, covered with wool, were used for hunting. In Peru, this breed is called the “Hairless Peruvian dog“, and in Europe and the United States – the “Peruvian Inca Orchid”. This is a rather rare dog.

The Peruvian Inca Orchid is not recommended for novice dog breeders. She gets along well with teenagers and dogs. However, the Peruvian Hairless Dog does not find a common language with other pets. This is a loyal, gentle and loving dog. This breed is fragile and highly sensitive. The Peruvian Inca Orchid does not tolerate heat and cold well. She has a very gentle nature, but she is distrustful and wary of strangers. This dog is smart, obedient and tries to please its owner in everything. Wool and care
The Peruvian Inca Orchid is of two types: hairless and hairy. Hairless pink or dark skin covered with short hair on the legs, head and tail. Particular attention should be paid to the ears of a bald dog, because the skin on them dries out and cracks easily. Peruvian Inca Orchids with wool need to be brushed periodically. Both types of this breed should be bathed only when necessary, using a mild shampoo. The Peruvian Hairless Dog is prone to early tooth loss.
Training
The Peruvian Inca Orchid requires early socialization and early obedience training. The trainer of this dog must be kind and consistent, because she will not tolerate a harsh or awkward handler. This breed is very obedient and quick to train.
Activity
The Peruvian Inca Orchid is suitable for keeping in a city apartment. The yard for this breed should be well fenced and have shady places. This dog does not need a lot of active exercise, short walks on a strong leash will be enough for it, it is best to keep it indoors as much as possible. The Peruvian Hairless Dog loves to socialize and play with its family.
